Mad Catz is known for their top quality gaming peripherals ranging from headsets and controllers to fight sticks (what they are mainly known for) and their latest released gaming peripheral is the M.O.U.S 9 mouse which is being marketed as the “mouse for everyday use” it’s a simplified and more comfortable feeling version of the R.A.T gaming mouse that Mad Catz released. The M.O.U.S 9 features the latest and uses Bluetooth 4.0 and thanks the the Mad Catz GameSmart technology and software (which you can download from their website) you can set up and modify how you use the mouse by customizing the ten buttons available on the mouse to meet your various needs from playing MMORPGs to MOBAs and even first-person shooters, not to mention you can customize it for daily computer use too including programs from Microsoft Office to the WordPress desktop application which I am writing this review on right now.

Just a quick image to show how the palm adjusting works for the M.O.U.S 9

The first thing I noticed with the M.O.U.S 9 is how light weight and comfortable the mouse felt after opening it up and setting it up on my computer, which was very simply to do as all I had to do was go to Mad Catz website and download not only the software but the drivers as well and within minutes I was all set up and ready to go. Adding to the comfort of the mouse that I previously stated is the fact that the palm rest on the mouse can be easily adjusted to fit a wide array of hand sizes making the M.O.U.S 9 more versatile then a majority of the other mice on the market today. I even started bringing the mouse to work with me to use as with the travel pouch included makes it easier to transport and with the inclusion of the Bluetooth nano dongle I can easily use the mouse on multiple computers and laptops with ease.

Another positive thing about the M.O.U.S  is the fact that the laser sensor used allows the mouse to function properly on almost any surface, even glass which many of you may know is an issue for many other mice on the market today and this just adds to just how you can use the mouse anywhere without any issues. The one downside that I have noticed with the mouse is that from time to time I would experience a form of lag between the mouse and my laptop where my clicks on the mouse weren’t being registered at all or were just delayed. The thing about this issue is that it would happen randomly and when I tried to recreate the problem I honestly couldn’t, so it wasn’t a big deal just something I felt the need to mention as it could happen to you too but I felt it wasn’t an issue that would make the M.O.U.S 9 not worth getting.

The nano dongle for Bluetooth fits right into the bottom of the mouse for easier transport.

Since the M.O.U.S 9 is a wireless Bluetooth mouse it does require 1 AA battery to power it but the great thing about the mouse using Bluetooth 4.0 with the Bluetooth Smart Technology is that with just 1 AA battery powering it the mouse can be powered for up to a year with regular use (this means that you turn the power off to the mouse when you aren’t using it) and with a battery life like that it’s hard to believe that you can really get that much life out of it before needed to change the battery. To better prove this I’ve been using the mouse daily for hours on end in both video games, writing articles in Office and also using Photoshop and other editing software and after a week of heavy use with also bringing it to work I checked the battery’s life with a tester and it was still at full power.

I took a screenshot of the Mad Catz software so you can see how easy the drag-and-drop button customization is.

With all things taken into consideration the M.O.U.S 9 is a solid mouse and a great peripheral for those of you who have multiple computers, laptops and even tablets (since it uses Bluetooth you can connect the M.O.U.S 9 to almost any device you want). With it’s precision and ability to program the 10 available buttons you can simplify and make any digital project you work on that much easier by making everything controllable with a click of a button(s). I definitely recommend this mouse to anyone who is in the market for a new mouse or even if you don’t need a new one but want to have one mouse to use on various platforms, let’s not forget to note that the M.O.U.S 9 is also Mac compatible as well. With that being said go buy this mouse, and for more details on the specs and to purchase the M.O.U.S 9 from Mad Catz you can visit the link here.
