Quickie: Yu-Gi-Oh: Legacy of the Duelist

So there was a brand new Yu-Gi-Oh game released this past Friday with no fanfare. It was just; here you go Yu-Gi-Oh fans. As someone who grew up on the card game and extensively played Forbidden Memories on the original PlayStation, I can understand why. This game is pretty lousy. It stays true to the rules of the game, but is presented in the most bland and boring way possible. Despite being on current generation consoles, the presentation is bland and doesn’t bring the cards to life as the show did, or even to the extent of the cult PS3 hit Eye of Judgment. Some iconic and powerful cards such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician have associated animations, but eve they are simple and boring. None of the dialogue is spoken despite being a retelling of the anime and, frankly, the game does not live up to its $20 price point. My time with the game is still fairly low, but my expectations are equally so. Check back for a full review, but rest assured that this is a game worth skipping.
