First Dark Souls III DLC Announced, Dated

Ashes of Ariandel FI

The first of two planned pieces of DLC for Dark Souls III finally has a release date. The Ashes of Ariandel DLC is set to release on October 25th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will include a new playable area, new weapons, armor, spells, new bosses, and of course new story content. Fans have been quick to point out familiar faces from Dark Souls past and even the wintry new zone is giving off a familiar vibe for longtime fans. It is not unlikely that, much like Dark Souls III, this DLC will be looking to close a few doors left open in previous entries as From Software moves on from the popular series. Earlier this year, series director Hidetaki Miyazaki expressed that Dark Souls III might be the last entry in the series at, least for a while. Though he is working on the new content, he apologized in advance for any “incomplete aspects of Dark Souls.”

The second piece of content has no solid details at this time, but is expected in 2017. Players can purchase the Ashes of Ariandel DLC for $14.99, or as part of the season pass which includes both for $24.99. Given the acclaim for Bloodborne’s DLC, The Old Hunters, expectations are high for the add-on content coming to Dark Souls III.
