The Quick and the Dead (Week of October 16th)

TQATD

Why hello my readers, it is I Andrew, once again bringing you this week’s The Quick and the Dead. Since you have last seen me I have found the answers to my questions. I must destroy Mark and Chris and take over Thosegamingnerds.com. This is then answer to the question that has plagued me these few weeks.  I have learned that I have been going about it in entirely the wrong way. My plans so far has been far too simple. So starting this week I will be leaving my mountain shack and return to my lair to start planning my greatest attack on Mark and Chris yet. This will be a plan that includes me becoming my enemy and figuring out why I have failed in the past and how to finally destroy them. Anyway let us get on with the show.

This is how the Quick and the Dead works:

  • Quick off the shelves: This game will sell out fast, think the likes of Halo, Uncharted, or pretty much any Blizzard game. Better Pre-Order.
  • Late to the party: This game is good, but it won’t be until an update or small price drop that this game takes off. At least it is fashionably late.
  • Bargain Bin Bound: This is the kind of game you don’t buy unless it is less than $20 and no one is watching. Ever have the feeling that guy behind the counter is judging you? You are probably buying one of these.
  • Dead on Arrival: It’s the games they play in hell.

Doom 3 BFG Edition

The Good: Doom 3 BFG Edition includes the original Doom 3 (now with the ability to use a flashlight and a weapon at the same time), Resurrection of Evil, Doom 1 and 2 all redone in HD, and 3D. To top that off there is all new content with eight new levels to fight your way through. This does not look like a your regular HD remake, and because it isn’t a HD remake. Every detail of the game looks like it has been run through and made new.

The Bad: I don’t see anything to say here.

Ahh, he looks so cute all redone and pretty.

The Verdict: Doom 3 BFG Edition is a masterfully redone version of several Doom games, up to and including a new campaign. The game itself will look more like a modern game than a remake. All I can say about Doom 3 BFG Edition will be…

007 Legends

The Good: 007 Legends brings back to life and modernizes 6 classic 007 movies into game form. Those movies are Moonraker, Goldfinger, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Die another Day, and Licence  to Kill. Also Activision has announced that after Skyfall hits theathers, they will release a free DLC that contains missions for that as well. Also some of the original actors will be lending their voices for this game. There will be 4 player split screen multiplayer as well as online 12 person multiplayer.

The Bad: Gameplay is nothing new, the engine used is the same from the Goldeneye reboot that we saw last year.

Dentist say I have good teef.

The Verdict: So 007 Legends has got a lot of great old favorite scenes modernized and playable. With the Skyfall free DLC the game promises hours of great Bond moments. I ave to say that 007 Legends will be…
