The Quick And The Dead (Week of April 30th)

Mark here with this weeks Quick and The Dead, and I’m taking over for Andrew who has been slacking off and addicted to a little game you might now of that’s called Defiance. So instead of risking life and limb to unplug his PlayStation 3 I decided it’s in all of our best interest for me to give you the low down on this weeks new game releases.

For our newer readers who might not know what exactly the quick and the dead is here’s the quick rundown of how this works. So in the Quick and The Dead we go over what new games are dropping this week and give our opinion on if they game will be a hit or not with our oh so original system to score on which you can see below:

  • Quick Off The Shelves: This game will sell out fast, think the likes of Halo, Uncharted, or pretty much any Blizzard game. Better Pre-Order.
  • Late to The Party: This game is good, but it won’t be until an update or small price drop that this game takes off. At least it is fashionably late.
  • Bargain Bin Bound: This is the kind of game you don’t buy unless it is less than $20 and no one is watching. Ever have the feeling that guy behind the counter is judging you? You are probably buying one of these.
  • Dead on Arrival: It’s the games they play in hell.

Soul Sacrifice

Soul Sacrifice is an action role-playing game for the PlayStation Vita from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan that lets players take part in a brutal combat experience where your every decision will have consequential results affecting the game. In Soul Sacrifice you will take on the role of a slave who stumbles upon a forbidden book that allows its readers to relive epic battles between sorcerers and monsters of the past. In order to use the magic during fierce battles, the player must be willing to make a sacrifice in exchange ranging from personal belongings, a limb, or even a life., which makes you ask what price will you pay for power?

The Good: Finally a great brutal game on the PS Vita that also has co-op, not to mention that from the looks of it the game seems to be like a cross between Monster Hunter and Demon Souls with a twist.

The Bad: The fact that it’s on the PS Vita is nice but this is a game I wouldn’t mind having on the consoles as well. Depending on how difficult the game can get I see it being one of those games where the frustration of failing a lot might make people stop playing or turn away those who like games that don’t really challenge them.

The Verdict: Soul Sacrifice is an acquired taste to say the least but for Vita owners who have had the handheld since launch it’s nice to see some games come along every now and then that create a new experience for Vita owners and with the way choices affect the gameplay I can see the endless possibilities that can happen with Soul Sacrifice.

It’s a slow week this week for games coming out but there is some great DLC and Downloadable games coming out as well including: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Ragnarok Online II, Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut.
